“Each year, inspiring businesses dedicate themselves to presenting compelling award submissions,” says Ramona Derbyshire, partner at Thrings and member of the awards’ judging panel.

“One of the best things about being a Wiltshire Business Awards judge is to have the opportunity to reward honest assessments of company performance, successes and hurdles with the recognition these companies deserve.”

Swindon-based law firm Thrings returns as headline sponsor of the awards and judge of the Overall Excellence Award. This year, recycling and landfill company, Crapper & Sons, collected the much sought-after accolade. Their positive approach to sustainability, innovation and customer service, as well as their support for local projects, really set them apart according to the team of Thrings judges.

Thrings continues to hear, first hand, how the awards have become a source of pride for past winners – giving staff a real boost and spurring them on to bigger and better things. In honour of the awards’ 25th anniversary, judges from the law firm are interviewing past victors as part of the new ‘Thrings meets…’ series of articles. The first features Poppy’s Picnic, Start-up Business of the Year in 2018. “It’s been fantastic to find out where these businesses are now and to hear what the awards have done, for them” says Ramona.
